NORTHERN RAIL CUP: HALF-backs Andy Kain and Liam Finn helped Northern Rail Cup favourites Featherstone make a winning start in the group stages.
Kain bagged two tries and Finn scored a try and kicked five goals as Rovers eased to an 11-try victory against Championship One side Doncaster in the first competitive match this season for both teams.
Doncaster took a shock lead after 66 seconds when Mick Butterfield collected Kain's kick and raced 80 metres to score.
Rovers hit back to take control with three tries in five minutes.
Finn sent in both Kain and Tony Tonks before Sam Smeaton scored the first of his three tries. In the 34th minute Ben Kaye put in Finn from close range.
Doncaster's Kyle Kesik was sent off while team-mate Chris Spurr and Rovers' Tim Spears were sin-binned following a brawl shortly before half-time.
Rovers made use of the extra man to stretch their lead with three tries in the opening seven minutes of the second half from Smeaton, Ian Hardman and Kain.
They completed the rout with touchdowns from Tommy Saxton, debutant Andy Bostock, Zak Hardaker and Smeaton.
Doncaster's only reply was a 68th-minute try by Mike Emmett that Scott Spavin goaled.
