The 25-year-old has missed the last two Reds’ games amid a drawn-out saga that saw the Terriers agree a fee with the Championship club.

Now, however, with Yiadom back at Oakwell and preparing for tomorrow’s derby at Sheffield United, manager Paul Heckingbottom admitted a new deal may be on the table.

“We had to somehow draw it to a close,” added the Reds chief. “The thing with Huddersfield was not moving forward, so until something changes he is back with us and is one of our players.

“We gave it every possible chance for ‘Yids’ and for us, because we were happy with the finances of it.

“But it is just the way things are, it breaks down. So, rather than being in limbo we just called a halt on it and he is back with us now.”

Yiadom’s return to the fold came as Dimitri Cavare, who spent time on trial at Huddersfield this summer, signed a two-year deal with Barnsley following his departure from Ligue 1 side Rennes.

The 22-year-old played against the Reds in a pre-season friendly for Town and caught Heckingbottom’s eye.

Sam Clucas, fresh from having a £10m bid from Burnley for him rejected by Hull City, is interesting Swansea City.

The Swans banked £45m from the sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton this week and are understood to be keeping a close eye on the Tigers midfielder.

Meanwhile, former Leeds United and Hull City wideman Robert Snodgrass has been made available for transfer by West Ham United.

The Scotland international joined the Hammers last January in a £10m deal, but has failed to nail down a place under Slaven Bilic.

His possible departure from the London Stadium – either in a permanent deal or on loan – is likely to alert a host of potential suitors with the transfer deadline less than a fortnight away.

League One Rotherham United are among the clubs hoping to sign Sheffield Wednesday striker George Hirst – son of Hillsborough legend David – on loan, but face competition from Walsall and Mansfield Town.
