Boxing Day

Championship

Barnsley v Blackpool

Team news: On loan striker Nile Ranger has returned to Newcastle United with an ankle injury and on loan midfielder Danny Drinkwater is ruled out with a thigh injury. Winger Jim O’Brien stands by for a recall after dropping to the bench last weekend.

Burnley v Doncaster Rovers

Team news: Striker El-Hadji Diouf has recovered from a hamstring injury and is set to replace Marc-Antoine Fortune who has been recalled by parent club West Bromwich Albion. But Rovers are still without a long list of injured players including John Oster, Chris Brown, Martin Woods, James Chambers, and Rachid Bouhenna.

Derby County v Leeds United (1pm)

Team news: Simon Grayson’s biggest decision is whether to stick with Andy Lonergan or bring in loanee Alex McCarthy, who had to sit out last week’s game against parent club Reading.

Middlesbrough v Hull City

Team news: Robbie Brady is available despite being sent off for the reserves last week so Nick Barmby will select from the same squad that beat Millwall in their last outing. Seyi Olofinjana is still not ready to return despite playing 70 minutes for the second string seven days ago, while Martin Pusic (hamstring) is out.

League One

Huddersfield Town v Chesterfield

Team news: Jamie McCombe returns to the squad after being recalled from a loan spell at Preston to cover for the suspended Peter Clarke, who collected his fifth booking of the season at Sheffield Wednesday. Antony Kay could come into the side. Alan Lee is back in the squad after serving a three-game ban but Damien Johnson (hamstring) is out.

Walsall v Sheffield Wednesday

Team news: Owls manager Gary Megson needs to pick a new goalkeeper after loanee Stephen Bywater returned to parent club Derby County. Nicky Weaver has only recently resumed training after knee surgery so Richard O’Donnell or Aaron Jameson are more likely to get the nod. Striker Gary Madine and defender Lewis Buxton are still ruled out by injuries.

League Two

Bradford City v Crewe Alexandra

Team news: David Syers came through a first run out with the reserves in midweek but today’s game could come too soon for the reigning Player of the Year. The same goes for Lee Bullock, who also came back from a long-term injury in the same game, as Phil Parkinson looks set to stick with the same team who beat Southend United.

Macclesfield Town v Rotherham United

Team news: Luke Foster is the latest addition to a Millers injury list that already includes captain Ryan Cresswell, on loan defender Guy Branston, and midfielders Gareth Evans and Mark Bradley. Foster will be out for the rest of the season with a cruciate knee injury. Manager Andy Scott is likely to name an unchanged side.

Blue Square Bet Premier

Mansfield Town v York City

Team news: Gary Mills could be tempted to ring the changes as York City today look to bounce back from their first league defeat since September. York are trying to discover the extent of top scorer Jason Walker’s groin problem after the 15-goal forward missed the defeat to Kidderminster.

Tuesday, December 27

League One

Sheffield United v Notts County

Team news: Midfielder Lee Williamson serves a one game ban after picking up his fifth booking of the season last weekend against Bournemouth. Midfielder Kevin McDonald is doubtful with a knee injury so Johnny Ertl could make his first start of the season.
