Rudy remains a vital part of Neil Redfearn’s squad and will play a major part for Leeds United in the remaining 18 Sky Bet Championship matches and beyond. 12.46pm: Michael Tonge deal from Leeds United to Millwall could yet be a stand-alone transfer, or part of a Martyn Woolford exchange.

12.43pm: An apparent u-turn in the Michael Tonge situation as his move from Leeds United to Milwall could now ‘potentially’ happen. But a no-go to Bradford.

12.36pm: Sky sources reporting that Leeds United’s loan signing of Edgar Cani from Catania is complete.

12.24pm: It could be worth noting that Jason Pearce did not train with Leeds United on Thursday - the day before he signed for Wigan. Austin did train with the club today. Make of that what you will.

12.14pm: It emerges that Rudy Austin trained with Leeds United this morning, adding credence to the belief that he is staying put at Elland Road, and not heading for Wigan.

12.09pm: In readiness for his likely arrival at Leeds United, striker Edgar Cani is six-foot-four and 25 years old. His Soccerbase page does not reveal much but he was pretty prolific in two years at Polonia Warsaw between August 2011 and January 2013, from where he joined Catania. At Polonia, the Albanian netted 11 goals from 14 starts and 16 appearances as a sub.

11.53am: Further confirmation from Italian sources that Albanian striker Edgar Cani is expected to sign for Leeds United today, on a half-season loan from Catania.

11.37am: Sounds as if any successful move from Bradford City for Leeds United’s Michael Tonge has a bit of a way to go yet.

11.22am: The calm after the storm with Leeds United’s Rudy Austin, or is it the calm before the storm? Leeds deny any move, Wigan media sources say no deal done so Sky confirmation of a deal is at this stage a red herring.

11.21am: Sheffield United are focusing their efforts on signing a striker. The Blades are believed to be locked in talks to sign Chesterfield hotshot Eoin Doyle.

11.15am: Barnsley boss Danny Wilson confirms he is hoping to extend the loans of trio Ben Pearson, George Waring and Alex Kiwomya. Calls have been made to their parent clubs and the Tykes are awaiting a response. Regarding the Tom Pope deal, Wilson says that as it stands it is looking highly doubtful. Wilson on Pope: “I don’t think it’s realistic at all after the weekend. I think we may have run its course.”

11.14am: Hull City are reportedly keen on Wigan Athletic midfielder Chris McCann, as are Aston Villa.

11.07am: New Owls recruit Bus is 22-years-old, five-foot-eleven and capped for Romania under-21s.

10.58am: DEAL DONE. Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of CSKA Sofia striker Sergiu Bus on a three and a half year contract.

10.53am: Sources at Leeds United are strongly playing down reports that midfielder Rudy Austin has been sold to Wigan Athletic. As it stands, no deal has been done with 12 hours to go before the deadline.

10.48am: Media sources in Wigan say no deal done with Leeds United’s Rudy Austin. A lot of people at Elland Road are in the dark about whether he’s joining the Latics. Leeds turned down a bid of £500,000 from Wigan last week and it’s no secret that head coach Neil Redfearn wants to keep him. Speaking after Saturday’s win over Huddersfield, Redfearn said: “He’s important to us. He typifies this resurgence with his pace, his power and his competitive edge.”

10.38am: Still no confirmation, or otherwise, about Austin’s move from Leeds to Wigan. But Martyn Woolford’s proposed switch to Elland Road from Millwall now looks unlikely. Millwall have injuries in his position and Leeds seem to have gone cold on the deal.

10.20am: Aaron Lennon is reportedly weighing up his options as regards a loan move to Hull City. The Tigers are also thought to be chasing Lokomotiv Moscow striker Dame N’Doye.

10.17am: Panic stations as a fake Wigan Athletic account confirms the club have signed Rudy Austin from Leeds United for an ‘undisclosed fee’. That proves a false alarm, for now at least. Sky still saying he has signed, according to their sources.

10.04am: Talk from Hull City that the loan move for Tottenham’s Aaron Lennon is looking doubtful.

10am: Sky are reporting that Leeds United’s Rudy Austin has signed for Wigan. No official confirmation.

9.38am: Remember this is what Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn said at Thursday’s pre-Huddersfield Town press conference; Redfearn: “Obviously I want to try and keep our better players and for me these are the sort of players that are going to benefit us for years to come.

“We’ve got a young squad and the good seniors we need to keep.

“Rudy has been in the side and, for me, he is not for sale, at all costs.

“We want to try and keep Rudy because you look at your Cooks and your Taylors and your Byrams and your Mowatts and you need your Rudy Austins in there to give them that lift and give them that experience.

“The point of the matter is if we are climbing and we are building then you keep your better players and you add better players to it.

“You don’t let your better players go, simple as.”

9.36am: Matters at Leeds seem to concern striker Edgar Cani who is expected to sign on a half-season loan from Catania. The Whites have also been linked with moves for Millwall winger Martyn Woolford - with Michael Tonge perhaps going the other way - as well as Huddersfield Town forward Joe Lolley.

United’s Rudy Austin continues to be linked with a move to Wigan with Ipswich Town known to have been interested in Billy Sharp.

9.29am: Bradford City are thought to be interested in Leeds United’s Michael Tonge - who was rumoured to be Millwall-bound as part of a Martyn Woolford swap deal.

9.26am: Nothing new at FC Halifax Town either, who signed striker Jack Muldoon from local neighbours Rochdale on loan until the end of the season at the weekend.

9.15am: The transfer rumour mill has been quiet concerning both Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers. Ditto York City whose manager Russ Wilcox says he is “not desperate” to do anything transfer wise.

9.11am: Barnsley’s main target is Port Vale’s six-foot-three forward Tom Pope. The club have also been linked with Blackburn Rovers attacking midfielder John O’Sullivan.

8.57am: Rotherham United boss Steve Evans said at the weekend he was chasing two players, one attack minded and one defence minded. There’s also likely to be interest in Millers ace Ben Pringle who is out of contract at the end of the season.

8.51am: With Middlesbrough flying high in the Championship, the main concern at the Riverside seems to be about holding on to key assets Lee Tomlin and George Friend. West Brom were thought to be interested in Tomlin with Crystal Palace looking at Friend.

8.44am: Huddersfield Town’s main concern would appear to be recruiting a new striker with Nahki Wells having left the ground on crutches against Leeds on Saturday.

8.39am: Chesterfield forward Eoin Doyle is the main name linked with a move to Sheffield United. Rotherham United are also thought to be chasing the highly rated 26-year-old.

8.28am: Sheffield Wednesday could be the busiest club in Yorkshire today with the Owls linked with a host of names amidst their takeover. The strongest links are with young Manchester United defender Marnick Vermijl and Carlisle midfielder Kyle Dempsey who Bolton are also thought to be interested in. Leicester City striker Chris Wood has also been linked with the Owls.

8.26am: To matters at Hull City first who have been linked with loan moves for Liverpool’s Rickie Lambert and Tottenham Hotspur’s Aaron Lennon.
