Hull City came off second best with former manager Nigel Pearson as the Tigers lost 2-1 at Leicester City in the game of the weekend.

Leeds United came away from the New Den with a 1-0 win at Millwall while freefalling Barnsley beat Peterborough.

With Sheffield United off duty owing to Chesterfield’s cup commitments, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield increased the pressure in the promotion race with 1-0 wins.
