Barnsley finally got their season up and running in League One with a come-from-behind win at Crewe.

Trailing to Billy Waters’s goal, the Reds battled back with goals from Leroy Lita - his first in a Barnsley shirt - and defender Martin Cranie.

Elsewhere in League One, there were defeats for the Blades and Rovers.

Nigel Clough’s side lost 1-0 at Coventry City thanks to a Jim O’Brien header.

Port Vale romped into a 3-0 half-time lead at Doncaster after strikes from Ben Williamson, Tom Pope and Carl Dickinson. Kyle Bennett netted a consolation in Rovers’ 3-1 loss.

Bradford City were held to a 0-0 stalemate at Walsall.

In League Two, York City let slip a 1-0 lead to draw with Northampton Town.

Anthony Straker put the Minstermen in front when his corner sneaked in, but Marc Richards hit a late free-kick to deny York all three points.
