BARNSLEY are set to complete the signing of free agent striker Simeon Jackson on an initial short-term deal.
The former Norwich City and Gillingham forward has been training with the Reds since pre-season and his impressive performances have been rewarded by way of an offer of a deal.
Head coach Lee Johnson said: “We are looking to bring in Simeon Jackson. Obviously he has trained with us since the start of the year and has been excellent.
“He is a really good lad to have around the place and a good finisher. And I think he is somebody who has the experience of getting promotions and scoring goals at this level.
“The opportunity came where we made him an offer just before the window and touch wood, he’s accepted it.
“It would give us another string to our bow. It would leave us with four or five really good striking options.”
Ryan Williams is back in the fray for the Reds’ weekend clash with Shrewsbury, but international commitments rule out Conor Wilkinson, who is with the Republic of Ireland U21 squad.
Johnson dismissed a reported link with ex-Huddersfield and Reds winger Adam Hammill.
