Watford 2 Barnsley 1: Game was boring, moans Hill

Barnsley’s Championship trip to Watford was one of a select group of matches to beat the freezing temperatures but the Tykes came away empty-handed.

Only games involving Yorkshire sides Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Huddersfield Town survived the winter weather.

The Reds trailed after 33 minutes when Hornets midfielder John Eustace scored.

And it was the same player on target after 68 minutes, making it 2-0 to Watford.

Andy Gray (85) pulled a goal back for the Tykes.

Hill had no complaints about the result, but said of the game: “It was very boring and not great to watch. I thought about getting on the motorway to avoid the storm after 10 minutes. That’s how bad it was.

“I like my football but that resembled rugby. We lost the game and maybe that was down to Watford. They stopped us playing and have plenty of quality.”
