Irishman Doyle, 31, one of the few players to excel for Blackpool in a fraught 2015-16 campaign, has signed a two-year deal and will step into the breach vacated by Ben Williams, who has joined Bury.

The arrival of the 6ft 5in custodian follows on from the captures of defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival and midfielder Nicky Law, with manager Stuart McCall seeking to bring a couple more new players in ahead of City’s forthcoming tour of Scotland.

Vastly-experienced Doyle, capped at senior and under-21 level by the Republic of Ireland, moved to City after the Valley Parade outfit triggered a release clause in his contract to speak to him following Blackpool’s relegation to League Two, having played 35 league games for the Lancastrians last term.

Doyle, who worked with new Bradford goalkeeping coach Steve Banks during his time at Blackpool, has played for a number of clubs after starting his career at Birmingham City.

He has also had stints at Chester City, Nottingham Forest, Millwall and Coventry City.
