Southend sting in the tail denies Bradford

BRADFORD City were denied the perfect conclusion to a dream week as a last-minute leveller earned hosts Southend United an unlikely looking 2-2 draw in League Two.

Fresh from dumping Arsenal out of the Capital One Cup, top scorer Nahki Wells fired Bradford into a 28th-minute lead.

And the Bantams, who were also handed an FA Cup reprieve this week, then raced into a 2-0 lead after the break thanks to Luke Prosser’s 64th-minute own goal.

However, Ryan Cresswell then ensured a nervy finale by netting for the hosts 10 minutes from time and what looked like being a perfect week for Bradford then ended on a sour note.

Gavin Tomlin struck in the last minute to earn Southend a 2-2 draw - the goal leaving City three points off the automatic promotion places in fifth - just when it looked like they were getting to within a point of third placed Cheltenham Town.
