Doncaster Rovers failed to halt their alarming slump in form when they lost 3-0 to Swansea City in the Championship today.
Loan signing Jason Euell made his debut for Rovers who also included new signing midfielder Franck Moussa.
Swansea continued their promotion charge with the most comfortable of victories over a Doncaster side decimated by injury.
It was hard not to feel sorry for Rovers’ injury-ravaged squad who, having been thumped 6-0 at home to Ipswich in midweek, then lost the services of Ryan Burge ahead of today’s clash and the influential James Coppinger during the pre-match warm-up.
Sean O’Driscoll was only able to name four substitutes at the Liberty Stadium - a reserve goalkeeper and three centre-halves - but even the latter trio could not have prevented what was essentially a training ground exercise for Swansea in the first half.
Scott Sinclair’s 19th goal of the season gave the Swans an early lead before Ashley Williams doubled their advantage before half-time.
Luke Moore secured the victory from the edge of the area with 12 minutes left.
Sean O’Driscoll admitted his Doncaster side were beaten by the better team.
He said: “It was difficult. We have matched Swansea in the past but we were no match for them here today.
“It was a struggle with 13 players out. But the one saving grace was the players kept going.
“There are 14 games to go but I haven’t got a team. We have been pulling rabbits out of the hat all season but I didn’t have a Plan B today.
“Three of my substitutes were centre-halves. What I am going to do with them? I must have run over a black cat somewhere.”
