Forward Mandeville, 20, whose outstanding form proved a catalyst for Rovers’ charge up to top spot in late autumn and early winter - which saw him named as the EFL Young Player of the Month in November - is back in the fray for the Robins’ test following an ankle injury, according to Ferguson.

On Mandeville, restricted to just one appearance so far this calendar year due to separate ankle and thigh problems after firing eight goals between early November and the end of December, Ferguson said: “He will be involved. He has trained very well, actually.

“He had to miss a little bit on Monday as he didn’t feel very well, but he trained fine, with no problems.

“He has did everything that has been asked of him. He will be involved, definitely.

“We have missed certain things he gives us as I think he is different to what we have got. We have missed certain elements of what he brings.

“It is good to have him back, definitely.

“As a player when you were in that sort of form scoring goals and being such a pivotal part of the team, your confidence is sky-high.

To have an injury and then another one, a bit of a freak actually, can affect your confidence as he was at such a level.”

“But if I started him on Saturday, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.”

Meanwhile, Ferguson has confirmed that utility man Luke McCullough is pencilled in for a 45 minute reserve outing in a game on March 22 as he closes in on his return to fitness following a long-term cruciate knee injury.
