Diouf is accused of spitting at ex-Town forward

El Hadji Diouf stands accused of spitting at a Blackpool player following Tuesday night's game at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Doncaster Rovers’ controversial striker El-Hadji Diouf is once again at the centre of a spitting allegation.

The former Senegal international stands accused of spitting at a Blackpool player in the tunnel at half-time of Tuesday night’s Championship encounter.

The incident followed Doncaster being awarded a hotly-disputed penalty from which Diouf scored by chipping goalkeeper Matt Gilks.

That sparked a shoving match between the two players which continued as they headed down the tunnel at the interval.

Former Huddersfield striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who scored twice for Blackpool, said: “Everyone knows what he’s like. He was back to his antics of spitting again. But we got the three points and that is the only thing you can say to him really.”

Pressed on the spitting allegation, Taylor-Fletcher added: “It was actually in the tunnel. He was the same when we played against Blackburn.

“He is a great player and it is just a shame he has that side to him.”

Diouf was charged and banned for spitting offences while playing for Liverpool and Bolton between 2002 and 2004.

He was found guilty of spitting at fans on two occasions and then at Portsmouth’s Arjan de Zeeuw.

A Rovers spokesman said: “We have no comment to make other than there was no incident reported to the club after the game.”

The dirty filthy pig should be kicked out of football for good. Spitting at any player is the lowest of the low.
