Rovers chairman takes legal advice over Coppinger injury
John Ryan is considering legal advice over James Coppinger's injury.
Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan is taking legal advice over a challenge that has put winger James Coppinger out of action for the rest of the season.
Coppinger suffered a fractured cheekbone as a result of an alleged headbutt by Bristol City winger Yannick Bolasie at the weekend but referee Fred Graham failed to take any action.
Ryan said: “I was disappointed that the referee did not take any action against the lad for the late challenge – but I have taken legal advice regarding this matter.”
Coppinger will undergo surgery on Friday and his absence is a major blow to Rovers’ bid for Championship survival.
Manager Dean Saunders is now believed to be considering a move for French winger Bertrand Robert – the younger brother of former Newcastle United winger Laurent – who plays for Greek club PAOK Salonika.
