Gateshead 0 York City 3: Smith on target against 10-man Gateshead

York City blew away the cobwebs when they beat 10-man Gateshead in the Blue Square Premier today.

York travelled to International Stadium on the back of having played just once in December - a 1-0 FA Trophy defeat to Boston United - and with striker Michael Gash having joined Rushden & Diamonds on loan until the end of the season.

Craig Nelthorpe saw red in the first half as Gateshead were reduced to 10 men.

And the visitors made their advantage count on 61 minutes when Jonathan Smith fired home, before Neil Barrett added a second five minutes later.

Leon Constantine (85) added a third goal for the visitors.
