There was renewed speculation this week that Leeds wanted to make another attempt to sign long-time target Kyle Lafferty from Norwich.

With the loan window shutting next week Evans said: “Are we still in the market for players while the loan window’s open? We’re always looking for players but I will be doing the boys who are playing at the minute a disservice. I’ve got such a strong team in there and I’ve got to look at those players first.”

The recent form of Mirco Antenucci, who has scored four goals in three games, may also have put the club off trying to sign the Northern Ireland forward.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly cooled their interest in Bournemouth striker Glenn Murray according to the Sheffield Telegraph.

Rumours surfaced this week that several Championship teams were showing interest in the out-of-favour forward, but it has now emerged that the former Crystal Palace man does not want to move up north.

Steel City rivals Sheffield United believe that they can capture Ryan Kent on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season according to the Sheffield Star.

The 19-year-old was recalled by Jurgen Klopp in January from his loan spell from Coventry City, and played in Liverpool’s FA Cup third round draw at Exeter City.

Since then however he has been stuck in the Under-21s, and Blades boss Nigel Adkins believes he can tempt the winger to come to Bramall Lane.

York City have announced that midfielder Michael Coulson has signed for St Johnstone on a two-year-deal. Coulson has played over 100 times for the club since joining from Grimsby. The move has come as a shock to the minster men, who lie 23rd in League 2, saying they are: “surprised and disappointed.”
