Huddersfield Town sack Lee Clark

Town have relieved manager Lee Clark of his duties.

Huddersfield Town have parted company with manager Lee Clark with the club sat fourth in League Two.

Clark lost only 40 of 178 games in charge of the club and masterminded a remarkable unbeaten league run that encompassed 43 games during 2011.

But the one big defeat was the play-off final loss to Peterborough last May.

Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle said: “This was a very difficult decision, one not taken lightly or in response to just one result.

“Concerns have been raised over recent weeks.

“Lee and his coaching staff have put their all into the job over the past three seasons and he has made a massve contribution to the club.

“However with 16 matches to go we still have an opportunity to achieve promotion and we have made the change with this in mind.”

Academy manager Mark Lillis will take temporary charge of the first team.

Recently axed Leeds United manager Simon Grayson, former Terriers boss Neil Warnock and Billy Davies are among the early front-runners for the job.

What a load of rubbish pockman! The fact that we are a 'shoe in' for the play-offs is exactly why he has got the boot. We need a manager who can take us through the play-offs. Clark has proved that it's not him.

Note to Football Club chairmen - you can't all win every match. With HTFC a "shoe in" for a Play off place this season (at the very least) this is an ill judged decision I would say. No doubt, Lee Clark will pop up elsewhere seen as just the bloke to get some team instant promotion.
