The 23-year-old Wales international will take the vacant number one shirt at the club and will join up with the Town squad ahead of the pre-season camp in Austria on July 23.

He joins Town with the ink still drying on a new five-year deal signed with Liverpool, with the Merseysiders keen for him to sign fresh terms before allowing him to head out on loan.

Ward has just returned from France with the Welsh squad who made the semi-finals of the Euro 2016 tournament, with the 6ft 3in keeper playing in the group opener with Slovakia in Bordeaux on June 11.

On Ward, head coach David Wagner said: “I have spoken before about using the loan market to bring special talent to the club and Danny is another great example of this, following closely on from Aaron Mooy’s arrival.

“That is why there was such strong competition to take Danny.

“I would like to thank Liverpool FC for the help the staff at the Club have given us in allowing Danny to join us.

“Danny is a goalkeeper that Liverpool FC rates very highly, which is why he has signed a new long-term contract at the club.

“He did very well out on loan last season and I believe we can help him take the next step in his career this season, so he will return to Liverpool a better goalkeeper.”
