Robins is guarded as Hunt heads to Palace in £2m deal

It is understood the Terriers Academy product will feature in the televised tea-time game against Sunderland at Selhurst Park if he passes a medical and the full-back agrees personal terms with Palace.

Hunt, 22, has made more than 100 appearances for Huddersfield, but has not started any of their last four games.

Instead, Adam Hammill has 
occupied the right wing-back slot in manager Mark Robins’s new-look formation.

The West Yorkshire club would not be drawn on the imminent piece of business yesterday with Robins preferring to concentrate on their derby with his former club Barnsley.

Robins did, though, state things are “fluid” and if any player moved out it could trigger a new arrival at John Smith’s Stadium.

He was in charge at Oakwell between 2009 and 2011, helping rescue Barnsley when they were in danger of relegation out of the Championship

“It was a very significant time during my career and one that I enjoyed,” said Robins, as he prepares to try to extend Huddersfield’s unbeaten run to six games.

“Barnsley is a very good club. Going back to Oakwell is something that I am looking forward to.

“We have a massive opportunity to go into the international break having given our best to try and earn three points.

“Barnsley will work very hard and are a good group of players; their work ethic was one of the main reasons to their success at the end of the last season. They work hard for each other.”

The last time the sides met they played out a 2-2 draw which ensured both clubs avoided the drop.

Huddersfield are clearly intent on making a mark at the other end of the table this time around, however, and Robins added: “That match is irrelevant.

“That was then and this is now.

“The match has huge importance; it is a local derby and we want to try and maintain our excellent start to the season.

“The derby significance of the game won’t be lost on the players and we will give a good account of ourselves.

“On the back of our recent performances we have to go there with a lot of confidence.”

Robins has been impressed with the attitude of his squad so far with just one loss this term on the opening day at Nottingham Forest.

“I am reasonably satisfied with the way things have started on the pitch, but I am very satisfied with the application of the players and that is the key thing,” he added.

“We need to maintain that application and try and get better but Saturday’s game is a different challenge.”

Like his manager, Hammill also has Barnsley connections.

Following a loan spell at Oakwell in 2009, he signed a permanent deal from Liverpool before Premier League Wolves triggered a £500,000 buy-out clause in his contract and signed him on a three-and-a-half-year contract in 2011. He joined Town in the summer after a loan spell last season.
