HUDDERSFIELD TOWN head coach David Wagner believes Brighton & Hove Albion can still be caught in the race for automatic promotion but Newcastle United are as good as up.

The Terriers sit third in the Championship and will tomorrow night look to boost their own hopes of reaching the top two at home to Aston Villa.

Brighton, beaten by Nottingham Forest last weekend, travel to Rotherham United looking to at least maintain their current six-point advantage over Huddersfield at the head of the chasing pack.

“Newcastle is promoted, or will get promoted,” said Wagner today when asked about the race for the Premier League.

“Brighton – and this is what I hear from people who have much more experience of English football than I have – have struggled in the past, often, at the end of the season.

“Newcastle, I am totally sure they are up. But Brighton we will see. There are so many games to go, 12 for us and 11 for everyone else.

“It is very difficult to say who will get promoted but for Newcastle I am totally sure.”

Danny Ward (dead leg) and Philip Billing (calf) will be assessed in a morning training session after collecting knocks in the weekend defeat to Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle.

Wagner, back on the touchline after serving a two game ban, added: “We are very excited and are enjoying this. The atmosphere is good. We have Aston Villa, one of the biggest clubs in English football. And it is at home.”
