Hull City have booked their place in the FA Cup final after a dramatic, hugely eventful semi-final against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United at Wembley. Follow the action here.
Here’s how the action unfolded, in the words of The Yorkshire Post football writer Leon Wobschall.
19 minutes. GOAL Blades 1-0. On a emotional day for Liverpool, one of their own puts the Blades ahead. Hull switch off from a throw-in, with John Brayford’s cross bundled in by Jose Baxter. The Scouser kisses his black armband and looks to the heavens.
42 minutes. GOAL Hull 1-1. The Tigers piece together their first meaningful moment and level. Terrific interplay between Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore sees the latter slip in Yannick Sagbo, who blasts his effort high past Mark Howard.
44 minutes. GOAL Blades 2-1. Fans barely have time to digest developments before the Blades regain the lead. Jamie Murphy’s strength and persistence is too much for Liam Rosenior, with the Scot’s cross fired in emphatically by his compatriot Stefan Scougall.
49 minutes. GOAL Hull 2-2. Steve Bruce’s dual interval change reaps a harvest. Sub Matty Fryatt nets the fourth goal of his cup campaign from close range after Blades fail to clear a Huddlestone corner. Tremendous entertainment.
54 minutes. GOAL Hull 3-2. Tigers in dreamland. Sublime moment for Huddlestone, who evades Neill Collins and Michael Doyle after a one-two with David Meyler in an exquisite run and fires past Howard in stunning fashion to cap remarkable turn-around.
67 minutes. GOAL Hull 4-2. Ex-Blade Stephen Quinn, three minutes after coming on, settles it, nipping in to head home following Fryatt’s cross on right. Commendably no celebrations from him due to his previous allegiances with the Bramall Lane outfit.
89 minutes. GOAL Blades 4-3. Clough’s men give themselves a lifeline when Murphy volleys in after Flynn heads into his path following an initial cross from Bob Harris. Sets up a grandstand finale.
90 minutes + 3. GOAL Hull 5-3. There is a twist and another goal and it comes from Hull. David Meyler is sent clear following Ahmed Elmohamady’s pass and coolly steers the ball past Howard. Steve Bruce puffs his cheeks out in relief.
