After joining in 2012, he oversaw promotion to the Premier League in his first season in charge and then in the 2013-14 campaign, he guided the Tigers to their first ever FA Cup final, where they eventually lost 3-2 to Arsenal in a thrilling game.

They were eliminated before the group stages of the Europa League at the start of a 2014-15 season that ended in relegation.

However, Hull won promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, defeating Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in the play-off final at Wembley.

After being interviewed for the England manager’s job earlier this week, Bruce appears to have quit the club on the eve of the new top-flight season.
