The 29-year-old joins the Blades for a fee believed to be around £150,000 with further add-ons and has signed a two-and-a-half year contract.

“James gives us something different and we believe there is more to come from him,” said United manager Chris Wilder.

“He has been part of some success at Bradford. He has been part of a winning team and, hopefully, he is joining another one.”

Hanson departs Valley Parade as Bradford’s third highest goalscorer of all time.

His move to Bramall Lane was not completed in time for the striker to face Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.
