Leeds manager Simon Grayson cut a dejected figure on the touchline last night as United were thrashed 4-1 by promotion rivals Birmingham City.

Nicola Zigic scored four times to leave Leeds reeling and in the last 20 minutes, Blues fans taunted Grayson with chants of: “You’re getting sacked in the morning”.

Grayson’s side had won two and drawn one of their last three games, but this latest slump in front of a crowd of only 19,628, comes too soon after three successive defeats over the Christmas period had seen them slide out of the top six.

Grayson said: “It was fantastic how we started the game. We could have been two or three up in the first five or 10 minutes and that’s why it’s hard to explain a result that you just couldn’t see after 60 minutes.

“But we showed our inexperience and naivety with the goals we conceded because you’ve got a 6ft 7in bloke who has played at the highest level and we didn’t stop the source with the balls they were getting in.

“It was too easy for him to score the goals.”

So Mr. Bates wants Leeds out of the Championship. Way things are going we'll be out of the Championship and back in Division One.

Fans is the plural of the word fan. Were there any Brummies there? I could not see or hear them.

couldn't fault the side in the first hour - unlucky not to be in front. But what I can't understand is why nothing was changed at the back and Zigic was left with the freedom of ER to do as he pleased.A blind man could see Thompson was struggling but nothing was done to sort things out. We had Pugh and Bruce on the bench who could have helped our 'rookie defence' as SG called them - sorry - but he selected them - he should take the blame. If he didn't think they were up to the job - why pick them. starting to ramble now - so frustated

We could start with BUYING a decent centre half. One that is comanding and can head the ball. I cant remember the last one we had, possibly Sodje. We have been coceding soft goals for years. Tom Lees might be ok in a couple of years, should be able to get a nice fee for him!!!
