O’Brien returns to Leeds United after illness
Andy O'Brien could soon be back in action for Leeds United.
Andy O’Brien is to resume training with Leeds United next week, two months after he refused to play in a Championship match at Burnley.
The club brought disciplinary action against the Yorkshire-born defender at the time but have since discovered that he was suffering from depression.
He has sought specialist medical treatment for the illness at the Sporting Chance Clinic.
The club say he is now ready to recommence training and that they will facilitate any further treatment required.
A club statement read: “It is now apparent that there were a number of issues that he was dealing with at the that time which affected him in a way we could not imagine and he was not in a right state of mindto make such decisions.
“On this basis we believe he deserves a second chance and we will do everything we can to assist him.”

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 04:29 PMThe only thing Andy O'Brien was depressed about was not getting a move to West Ham. No more excuses. Get your finger out and started earning your wages.

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 04:22 PMAs a club, we are the laughing stock of the league,.... we have quite simply become an embarrassment !!!! I am desperate for another season ticket, but will never return until the present clowns running our club have left. .... Can't wait for the sequel about our recent years "The Doomed United" .

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 04:02 PMThis is positive news, defo gives us more cover at the back and he was exceptional in his last game for us. Lets not be negative regarding this anymore, we have enough to be bothered about and it has been a major concern regarding the reasons for him 'falling out with the club' and at long last this seems to have come to light. Get behind the lad and the team and who knows, he may well have a big point to prove to us all and himself. Time for us all to come together now and support Leeds UNITED. We all know the issues and none of us are happy with the present state of affairs at ER. But the time has come to stop the bickering and get some atmoshere back that the players will respond to, we are all in this together or not at all!
