Halifax and Guiseley endure National League defeats

Yorkshire’s two National League sides, FC Halifax Town and Guiseley both suffered opening day defeats.

Newly-promoted Boreham Wood beat Halifax Town 3-1, while Guiseley’s first game at this level ended in a 1-0 loss at Welling.

Sahr Kabba got the winner, when he picked up Kevin Lokko’s header to tap the ball home.

Ricky Shakes opened the scoring against Halifax, tapping beyond Halifax goalkeeper Matt Glennon.

Jordan Burrow’s penalty - after Josh MacDonald was fouled by Ben Nunn - levelled matters, before the hosts won with strikes from Jamie Lucas and Harry Crawford.
