The fans and players of North Ferriby United can be forgiven for waking up on Monday morning with bleary eyes and a sore head.

Celebrations will, no doubt, have gone on long into the night after the Conference North side battled back from 2-0 down against Wrexham to complete an against-all-odds victory and lift the FA Trophy.

The drama and romance of cup competition was there for all to see as the Villagers first forced extra-time, then even went 3-2 ahead before finally being forced into a tense penalty shoot-out.

However, North Ferriby came out on top in penalties, and as goalkeeper Adam Nicklin dived away to make the save that created history, he also sparked one of the biggest parties ever known in this small corner of the White Rose county.
