Barnet 2 Rotherham United 0 - Millers get away day blues for
ROTHERHAM UNITED came into this game seeking to equal a club record of six successive away wins.
But they found it was beyond them as Barnet virtually ensured their own safety in League Two with what transpired to be a comfortable victory.
The man who secured it for them was the oldest player on the field, 40-year-old Paul Furlong.
The evergreen striker scored twice in the final 20 minutes to kill off a Rotherham side who had gone into the game on the back of a five-match unbeaten run.
It had been a game of very few chances and seemed sure to end in a goalless stalemate until Furlong produced a piece of sublime skill with 20 minutes to go.
He received the ball with his back to goal inside the area and he smartly went round Ian Sharps before placing his shot beyond the reach of Andy Warrington.
Rotherham went close when Sharps had a goal-bound shot blocked inside the six-yard area.
But it wasn't to be their night and with nine minutes to go Furlong finished them off. for good.
He was on the spot ten yards out to head home an inch- perfect centre from Albert Adomah for what proved to be his fourth goal in the last three games.
