Sheffield Wednesday v Rotherham United

Team news: The Owls will be without striker Akpo Sodje who suffered a serious knee injury after scoring in the opening day victory over Burnley and who is due to visit a specialist on Tuesday to discover the length of his absence. Loan signing Jimmy Smith is likely to make his first start in midfield and winger Etienne Esajas could make his first start in seven months after recovering from foot problems. Defender Peter Gilbert is also available again after serving a three match ban.

The Millers are unlikely to risk former Owls striker Mark Burchill who missed the opening game of the season due to toe and groin problems. Defender Stephen Brogan remains sidelined with a broken leg.

Brian Laws: "I would like to sign a replacement for Akpo Sodje but unfortunately we don't have the funds to do that."

Mark Robins: "This is an opportunity for my players to make name for themselves. All the pressure is on Sheffield Wednesday."

Crewe Alexandra v Barnsley

Team news: Dutch striker Maceo Rigters, signed on loan for the season from Blackburn Rovers, is likely to make his first start for Barnsley after coming on as substitute at the weekend against QPR. Defender Marciano Van Homoet starts a three game ban after his dismissal at Loftus Road and is likely to be replaced by Rob Kozluk. Winger Mounir El Haimour is ruled out with a calf strain.

Simon Davey: "Crewe have a reputation for cup shocks and play very good football. We will always put out our strongest team in the cup. We will take it very seriously because we need a cup run every year."

Notts County v Doncaster Rovers

Team news: Striker Paul Heffernan is set to start for Rovers after serving a three match ban while summer signings James Chambers, John Spicer, and Jos Van Neiustadt could make their full debuts. Gordon Greer, Sean McDaid, and Darren Byfield are again ruled out by injuries.

Sean O'Driscoll: "We will have to look at how difficult the Championship is going to be in relation to whether we rest one or two players."
