Future of Woods on the agenda for Sheffield Wednesday
THE Owls intend to resolve the future of defender Richard Wood after tomorrow's game against Queens Park Rangers.
Notts County, Coventry City, and Ipswich Town have all been linked with the player who has rejected a 'double your money' offer to stay at Hillsborough.
There is a two-week international break after this weekend's fixtures and the Owls' next game, ironically, is away at Ipswich on November 21.
Laws hopes confirmed interest from County will spark an auction for the 24-year-old who is out of contract at the end of the season.
"Everybody knows that Notts County will probably be paying fairly good money that we couldn't match but is it Richard Wood's cup of tea? I would be surprised if he even considered it," said Laws.
"There is a two-week opportunity where things have got to move quickly," he added. "While Notts County have made a move, we are waiting for others. No-one has made a firm offer. At the end of the day, we have got to the stage where we might have to auction him."
Laws, meanwhile, has not ruled out the possibility of Wood playing tomorrow as defender Darren Purse is still nursing a virus.
"He is still our player and, if I think he is fit and able, I wouldn't hesitate in playing him as long as his mind is right," said Laws. "He wasn't fit last weekend but he has trained this week."
