The play-off heartache is now a distant memory as the Ellannd Road men begin plotting their promotion from the third tier of English football.

The players report for duty at Thorp Arch on Thursday, July 2, and almost immediately head straight into a pre-season friendly at York City.

"I'm excited about it," said Grayson. "There's not long to go between the lads coming back and getting straight in the game at York.

"We've got two games in Ireland as well straight after that which will give our fanbase in the north and the south chance to see that.

"Pre-season is about getting fit, bonding and unity. I don't want to be away too long, but this is perfect."

Leeds United are still interested in signing Crystal Palace goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan on a permanent deal.

The 30-year-old joined Leeds on loan towards the end of last season but did not play a game, mainly due to injury.

"He is on the radar as are a number of other players," Grayson said.

"We need competition for places all over the field and if I feel I need to bring in another keeper and have three then Darryl's ideal for me. Darryl is a good lad, he trained well and had an impact on what we did at the end of last season."
