Rotherham United 2 Dagenham & Redbridge 0: Rotherham fully recovered
ROTHERHAM United put their weekend defeat at bottom club Darlington firmly behind them with this victory.
An excellent first-half display brought them two goals and put them in control and they never looked like letting their advantage slip.
Both goals came from top scorer Adam Le Fondre, who took his total for the season to 21.
In a bright start by both sides it was Dagenham who could have taken the lead but Jon Nurse struck a chance over the top.
Rotherham then grabbed the lead after only 11 minutes. Nicky Law made the running and when Kevin Ellison drove the ball across the area up popped Le Fondre to sidefoot home from six yards.
Dagenham's top scorer Paul Benson should have done better with a header but Rotherham got right on top and Gary Roberts had a tremendous effort saved by namesake Tony in the Dagenham goal.
It was no surprise when Rotherham doubled their lead on 35 minutes. Le Fondre was brought down by Mark Arber and he scored from the penalty spot and Ellison went close to a third goal as Rotherham dominated before half-time.
Tom Pope missed a sitter straight after the break but the visitors had more possession in the second half although Rotherham were solid in defence and Andy Warrington was required to make just one serious save, turning over a shot from Nurse.
