Swindon Town 2 Huddersfield Town 1: Terriers impress but fall to Austin's drive
Huddersfield's chase for promotion received a setback when a second-half strike from Charlie Austin gave Swindon all three points.
Huddersfield played some good football and an early strike from Gary Roberts brought a fine save from home goalkeeper David Lucas before an equally impressive effort from Anthony Kay went just over.
Swindon went ahead when Austin controlled a long ball into the penalty area before finding Billy Painter who shot the ball under Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies from eight yards.
The lead lasted just five minutes, however, when a long ball from Smithies bounced on the edge of the Swindon box and found Lee Novak.
Novak measured his shot from 20 yards to fire into the top corner leaving Swindon's Lucas helpless.
After the break, Huddersfield continued to press and impress but it was Swindon who restored their lead in the 58th minute.
Kevin Amankwaah won the ball on the halfway line and crossed deep into the visitors' box to Austin, who controlled the ball well and went on to beat Smithies, who had no chance of saving.
In difficult conditions Huddersfiield might have come out with at least a point, but the game became something of a lottery in the awful conditions.
