Rotherham United’s automatic promotion hopes are over after they came out on the wrong end of a 10-goal thriller at champions Wolves.
In a match delayed by 10 minutes as a crowd of 30,110 flocked to the home side’s promotion party, both Wolves’ Nouha Dicko and Rotherham’s Kieran Agard hit hat-tricks before Wolves ran out 6-4 winners.
Agard’s 14th-minute opener was cancelled out by Dicko, who hit a second while David Edwards added a third to give the home side a comfortable half-time advantage.
Agard reduced the deficit on the hour and although Dicko restored Wolves’ two-goal cushion with 10 minutes remaining, the match was far from over.
Desperate for the points to boost their own play-off push, the Millers hit back through Joe Skarz on 84 minutes before Agard fashioned an equaliser four minutes later - but there was still time for Sam Ricketts and Kevin McDonald to seal an incredible win for Wolves, and wrap up Brentford’s promotion in the process.
