Notts County v Rotherham United: Evans will alter game plan as Millers look to counter Notts

The Millers chief is still seething after Gillingham striker and ex-United player Deon Burton went unpunished following an incident which saw captain Ian Sharps break his nose in Saturday’s 2-1 loss to the Gills.

Evans, unhappy with a number of decisions on the day, has sent a copy of the key incidents of the game to the Football League.

Attention has now turned to 
tonight’s replay at Notts County, with the Millers seeking to book their place in the third round of the cup for the first time since 2004-05.

Evans, who reached the fifth round in the past two seasons at former club Crawley, said: “We can certainly expect to face a very decent County team. We have already seen that, plus of course, they have home advantage – but I do believe the cup tie is still very much alive.

“County are full of talented lads and will be big favourites to win, but we will get organised and you never know – we might even get the odd 50:50 decision in our favour.”

He added: “We will most likely make a couple of changes that will allow us to change our system slightly to cope with what our opponents will do.”

Evans expects Sharps to feature this evening, despite the defender looking “as if he had been hit by a bus” after Saturday’s game, according to the Millers chief.

Utility man Mark Bradley is expected to be missing again through injury, with talisman midfielder Kari Arnason suffering no problems following his eagerly-awaited return from a shoulder problem at the weekend.

Dale Tonge, Lionel Ainsworth, Craig Morgan and David Noble remain sidelined.
