Rotherham United manager Steve Evans missed his usual midweek press conference today as speculation over a move to Peterborough United intensified.
Evans was in an “internal meeting” which forced him from speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s Championship trip to Charlton Athletic.
Instead, Evans’s No 2 Paul Raynor answered questions, with one of the main topics being was there any truth in the boss leaving South Yorkshire to join Peterborough.
Raynor said he was unaware of any impending move.
“We always have speculation, we are used to it,” he said. “Last year it was Sheffield Wednesday, previously it was Peterborough and Leyton Orient, there is always speculation.
“When you are successful you are coveted and people put two and two together.
“Obviously with Steve’s family living in the town there is always going to be speculation there. We will just get on with the job like we always do.”
