FT: Rotherham United 1-1 Notts County - Evans impressed

Steve Evans reached the fifth round twice with Crawley and he still has a chance of emulating that with Rotherham United as they claimed a highly-creditable draw against Notts County.

County arrived at the New York Stadium boasting a proud 20-game unbeaten away streak that stretched back to February.

And when Yoann Arquin gave the League One promotion-chasers the lead on 32 minutes, it looked like they would extend that in the most emphatic of fashions.

But Evans’s League Two high-flyers levelled through Ben Pringle just before half-time.

With neither side able to find a winner in the second half, Rotherham have earned a replay at Meadow Lane and a place in the draw for the third round of the FA Cup.

Evans said: “Credit to both sides. It was a fabulous cup tie. We were the better side in the second half.

“I thought for 20 minutes they were better than us, but then we started to pass and move it for the remaining part of the half we equalised and we perhaps should score when Bradley hits the post.

“In the second half I thought we were by far the better team and I’ve just looked at an incident where there’s handball in the box late on, and it’s not a penalty for me but we made a chance in the 90th minute where Nards puts it high and wide, and if there’s one person in the camp you’d want on the end of that, it’s him.”
