Rotherham United 1 Notts County 1: Evans upbeat over his Millers upsetting odds as Pringle earns replay

ROTHERHAM manager Steve Evans remains confident his side can produce an upset in next week’s replay at the League One side.
Ben Pringle’s equaliser earned Rotherham their replay after the Magpies took the lead through Yoann Arquin’s stunning volley from left-back Alan Sheehan’s cross.
Rotherham levelled in the 42nd minute when Daniel Nardiello and Michael O’Connor combined to set up Pringle for a low left-foot shot from inside the area.
The Millers also went close to making it 2-1 just before the break when Mark Bradley’s shot hit the post, and Nardiello then fired over an open goal in the last minute after Jeff Hughes had gone close for County.
“If there’s one person in the camp you’d want on the end of that chance in the 90th minute, it’s him,” said Evans of Nardiello’s miss.
“As I’ve said, we’re in a good run of form, we’re trying to play the right way, and the passage of play for our goal should be played 25 times on the television.
“Good play by Courtney, Nardiello, a great ball by Michael O’Connor and a good finish by Pringle.
“It’s far from over and we look forward to doing battle with them again, but first and foremost we need to get ourselves dusted off and get back to it in League Two next week, and there’s no better team than Gillingham.”
Despite a nervous opening, the Millers enjoyed periods of domination and Evans said: “I thought for 20 minutes they were better than us, but then we started to pass and move it for the remaining part of the half.
“In the second half, I thought we were by far the better team.”
Opposite number Keith Curle, whose side arrived on the back of a 22-match unbeaten run away from home, admitted: “I’m still pleased to be in the hat. I thought we started the game very well and then I felt the game petered out.
“We struggled to have anything to build off up front, which meant that we ended up camped in our own half because we were unable to progress the way we want to play. We wanted to take the ball into the opposition’s half on a regular basis but we weren’t able to do that.”
