NIGEL ADKINS will start competitive life in the Sheffield United dug-out at Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium on August 8 - with the Blades given a distinctly unglamourous League One opener to 2015-16.
Adkins’ first league clash at Bramall Lane comes seven days later against the side who the Blades ended their regular home season against last season - in near-neighbours Chesterfield, who visit S2 on August 15.
United face an early visit to the side who knocked them out of the play-offs last term in Swindon, with Adkins’s side heading to Wiltshire on August 29.

September sees the Blades negotiate back-to-back derbies, first visiting Bradford on September 19 before welcoming Doncaster Rovers a week later.
The Blades end November with a short trip up the M1 to Barnsley on November 28, with Adkins visiting his former club Scunthorpe with his new one on December 19.
United are also on the road on Boxing Day when they visit Wigan before welcoming Bradford on December 28, with the Blades having made an abortive move for their manager Phil Parkinson ahead of settling upon Adkins recently.
Peterborough are the visitors for the Blades’ curtain-raiser to 2015 on January 2 and an excursion to Blackpool follows on January 9.
United head to the Keepmoat to face Doncaster on February 13 and their penultimate home game of the campaign is also against South Yorkshire opposition in Barnsley on April 23.
United end their away campaign at Coventry on April 30 before hosting Scunthorpe on the final day on May 8.
