Paddy Madden tapped the Iron into a 1-0 lead from Stephen Dawson’s cross two minutes into the second half but the lead lasted less than two minutes before Billy Sharp volleyed the Blades level from inside the six-yard box.

Scunthorpe’s Harry Toffolo was then sent off in the 51st minute for a wild challenge on Kieron Freeman before both sides hit the woodwork late on.
