Sheffield United finished just outside the League One play-offs after a 2-1 win over Coventry City at Bramall Lane.
Over 20,000 turned out to watch goals from Ryan Flynn and Ben Davies secure all three points for Nigel Clough’s side.
The visitors took the lead in the first half, when on-loan midfielder Nathan Delfouneso outpaced United’s defence and slipped the ball beyond goalkeeper Mark Howard in front of the Kop.
It was a tepid opening 45 minutes, with a distinct end-of-season feel to the game.
But the Blades stepped up the pressure and intensity after the break and deserved to be level when winger Ryan Flynn cut in from the right and fired home.
Then substitute Ben Davies crashed home the winner to send Blades fans off for the summer break in a positive mood with their side finishing in seventh spot.
