The deadline-day signing suffered a hamstring strain on his debut against Sunderland last Saturday, which put a slight downer on proceedings after he started out life at the Blades with a bang with a two-goal debut performance on Wearside.

The former Birmingham man missed the midweek victory at Bolton Wanderers.

Wilder, who has Leon Clarke available again following suspension, said: "Clayton is touch and go, so we will see."

Meanwhile, the Blades chief confirmed that keeper Simon Moore, back in training after sustaining a knee injury in training which saw him undergo an operation, will feature for the under-23's next week.

Samir Carruthers has returned to training and will be in Wilder's plans for the weekend home game with Norwich City.
