SHEFFIELD Wednesday have lined-up a deal for Oldham Athletic’s out-of-contract defender Kieran Lee.
The former Manchester United reserve, 23, has spent the last four seasons at Boundary Park and is expected to move to Hillsborough next week.
Oldham chairman Simon Corney said: “I can confirm that Kieran has left the club and it looks like he is joining Sheffield Wednesday. We did make him an offer but we simply cannot compete with a club like Wednesday who are going to be in the Championship.”
Lee was just 19 when he made his Premier League debut for Manchester United against Chelsea in May 2007. He has also played seven times on loan for QPR in the Championship.
Manager Dave Jones needs to bolster his options at rightback after releasing Jon Otsemobor this week.
