The 55-year-old is reportedly on the radar of crisis club Aston Villa should they decide to dispense with the services of under pressure chief Remi Garde.

Bruce, though, will hope he is heading to the country’s top flight anyhow with the Tigers, who are being linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers defender Shane Duffy.

The 24-year-old has made 33 appearances for Rovers this season and is also said to be attracting the interest of Crystal Palace and West Brom.

At the other end of the Championship table, Rotherham United reportedly face competition from relegation rivals MK Dons to secure the signature of defender Liam Moore on loan from Leicester City.

Moore, who had previously been linked with a move to Leeds United, spent the first half of the season on loan at Bristol City but has now returned to the Foxes where he is not getting a look in.

Huddersfield Town, meanwhile, are said to be interested in another Leicester player from the opposite end of the pitch in winger Joseph Dodoo.

The 20-year-old scored a hat-trick for the Foxes on his debut in August’s 4-1 League Cup success at Bury who he then went on loan to.

Several Football League clubs have expressed an interest about signing Dodoo on loan but Huddersfield hope to win the race to secure his signature.

The Terriers are also believed to be on the tail of Wolves winger Rajiv van La Parra, another player formerly linked with Leeds.

Wolves chief Kenny Jackett said of La Parra: “We’ve had an approach, nothing has been set up or decided yet. We will see, we’ll be deciding in good time this week.

“He’s not a player I’ve used for the last couple of games.

“Some time out of the firing line helps him to come back and come back stronger because he is a capable player.”
