Transfer Gossip (Tuesday): Norwich interested in Barnsley defender | Hull's resolve over Snodgrass to be tested | Boro in chase for Spanish striker

THE latest Barnsley player to be linked with a move away from Oakwell is defender Angus McDonald, who is reported to be in the sights of Championship rivals Norwich City.

Reports in East Anglia suggest the Canaries are testing the Yorkshire club’s resolve even further - captain Conor Hourihane and James Bree are expected to join Aston Villa this week - by tabling a £2.5m bid.

The former Torquay United player moved to South Yorkshire last summer and has impresssed with his performances, helping fire Barnsley to within four points of the Championship play-off places.

If MacDonald were to be tempted away after such a short space of time, it would be a huge blow for manager Paul Heckingbottom, who has already lost striker Sam Winnall to Championship neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.

West Ham United are expected to hit Hull City with a fourth bid for striker Robert Snodgrass as they increase their efforts to prise him away from the KCOM Stadium.

It is understood that the Hammers have already tested Hull with a third bid of £6m, with the Tigers desperate to hang on to their star man as they bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Middlesbrough, promoted along with the Tigers from the Championship last year, are also keen on landing the Scottish international but it is thought London is the preferred destination for the wide man should he get the chance to move on from East Yorkshire.

Hull are also reportedly fending off interest from Chinese club Changchun Yatai in striker Abel Hernandez, with an £8m-plus bid thought to have been lodged.

The Uruguayan international has hit the target just once this season but, if Snodgrass were to depart too, it would leave a big hole in the Tigers striking options.

Boro are also reported to be interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s Spanish forward Jese Rodriguez.

Aitor Karanka has previously worked with the 23-year-old when the pair were at Real Madrid together until the Boro manager’s departure for Teesside in 2013.

Jese moved to France last summer for a fee believed to be around £21.2m. He has scored one goal in nine appearances.

Huddersfield Town target Terrence Boyd won’t be coming to West Yorkshire after all, he has signed with Bundesliga outfit SV Darmstadt, currently sitting bottom of the table and seemingly destined for relegation.

Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson has revealed he wants to try and get young centre-half Mitchell Lund out on loan somewhere for the rest of the season.

The youngster has made just five appearances this season.
