Transfer gossip (Wednesday, June 29): Millers act; Reds signings imminent; Tigers eye Euro 16 star; Boro shock move

ROTHERHAM UNITED are poised to kick-start their summer recruitment by bringing in Walsall winger Anthony Forde as their first close-season signing.

The Millers, also linked with Saddlers striker Tom Bradshaw, are set to confirm the capture of Forde, 22, shortly with the former Wolves player undergoing a medical.

Walsall will be due compensation, even though Forde is at the end of his deal, because the player is under 24.

Colchester duo George Moncur and striker Elliott Lee are expected to be officially confirmed as Barnsley players today.

Moncur agreed terms with the Reds last week, but a summer holiday has prevented his unveiling.

A tribunal is likely to decide what Hull City must pay for AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Will Mannion.

The clubs have been unable to agree compensation for the highly-rated 18-year-old, who is likely to feature for the Tigers’ development squad side in 2016-17.

The Tigers, whose manager Steve Bruce is still in limbo regarding his future at the club, which is subject of ongoing takeover interest, have also been linked with a move for Derby County’s Republic of Ireland international Jeff Hendrick.

The Dubliner was outstanding in the Republic’s recent Euro 2016 campaign and while he is happy at Derby, the lure of top-flight football could prove an attractive one for the 24-year-old if Hull make any move.

Bournemouth, Everton and Crystal Palace are also keen.

Middlesbrough are reportedly eyeing a shock move for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, with the Magpies having moved to bring Belgium under-21 stopper - and Boro target - Matz Sels to Tyneside.

Dutch international Krul, 28, has one year left on his current deal at St James’ Park and is wanted to replace Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, who is 37 and has never played in the Premier League.

Everton have also been linked with a summer move for Krul.
