Russ Wilcox saw his York City beat Newport in an early kick-off in League Two.

James Berrett fired the Minstermen in front on 37 minutes with a long-range effort.

And the visitors doubled their advantage on 55 minutes when Reece Thompson headed home from Luke Summerfield’s cross.

Four minutes later, Vadaine Oliver made it 3-0 with a close-range finish.

Newport’s day ended on a sour note as Danny Holmes was sent off for two bookings with 15 minutes left on the clock.
