YORK City produced a storming fightback at Glanford Park to head into the League Two play-offs in confident mood.
Promoted Scunthorpe established a 2-0 lead but Ryan Brobbell struck just before the interval and an equaliser from Calvin Andrew following York’s 10th corner of the second half.
With fifth-place still up for grabs, manager Nigel Worthington named an unchanged York side rather than rest players for the play-offs.
But promoted Scunthorpe, chasing the title, got on the front foot from the start and Paddy Madden headed them into a 19th-minute lead from Eddie Nolan’s cross.
It was 2-0 in the 38th minute when Terry Hawkridge broke into the area and drove the ball past Nick Pope.
York’s Ryan Brobbel then switched flanks and cut inside to curl the ball into the roof of the net in first-half stoppage time and it was game on again.
The introduction of Hayhurst for Lewis Montrose did the trick and the winger drove the ball home from a tight angle in the 71st minute, with Andrew getting the vital touch.
Both teams went for the winner without breaking through again.
