York’s miserable season shows now signs of easing as they concluded their home programme by being thrashed by Bristol Rovers.
And the sorry Minstermen even slumped to the foot of the League Two table as Dagenham and Redbridge climbed above them after beating Crawley.
Richard McEvoy scored an 80th minute consolation goal for York but they had now answer to the firepower of Rovers.
Billy Bodin scored twice for Rovers, his second on 71 minutes sparking a runaway victory for the visitors.
Jermaine Easter and Lee Mansell completed the rout in the last 10 minutes.
York’s relegation to the National League was confirmed last week.
