1: Leeds United WWWWLW (unchanged).

The Whites suffered a reality check at a familiar house of pain at Millwall on Saturday and for seemingly for the umpteenth time at the New Den, the Lions outfought their Yorkshire visitors.

To their credit, Leeds hauled themselves up to produce a performance of character to upset Wood, Taylor and co in a battling Carabao Cup midweek victory at Premier League outfit Burnley.

The Bantams claimed a noteworthy derby win over Rotherham last time out, their first victory over the Millers in eight attempts and first goal in seven.

Stuart McCall’s men also recorded their first home clean sheet in the league this term and have seen their colours lowered just once in eight league outings this season. Unbeaten in six in all competitions, with four wins.

3: FC Halifax Town WDWWWL (down one).

Knocked down a spot after a 3-1 National League weekend loss at high-flying Dagenham and Redbridge, which saw the Shaymen drop down to eighth place in the table.

It ended their unbeaten six-game league run which saw them pocket 16 points from a possible 18.

Their hopes of a win of substance at one of the Championship’s early pacesetters in Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City may have been dashed by a late weekend leveller, but the Owls are still in a good place.

Slow starters in the past two seasons, the Owls are seven unbeaten in the Championship, even if that run has contained a few draws.

5: Sheffield United WLWWWL (down two).

An injury-hit Blades shorn of forward options produced a game performance last weekend, but went down 1-0 at home to Norwich, who inflicted a first home league reverse upon the hosts since January 24.

In the round, Chris Wilder’s side are still set fair and head into Sunday’s eagerly-anticipated Steel City derby seeking their third straight away success at this level.

6: Middlesbrough WDWDWW (up two).

Boro ticking along quite nicely.

A league win over QPR was followed by Carabao Cup progression at Aston Villa in midweek, with Garry Monk’s men, after a quiet start to the season, picking things up. Six matches undefeated in all competitions.

7: Huddersfield Town WWDLDL (down two).

Particularly unfortunate not to claim victory in an accomplished Premier League performance at home to Leicester on Saturday, a rejigged Town side were rather more insipid in their Carabao Cup exit at troubled Crystal Palace in midweek.

Four without a win in all competitions for David Wagner’s side.

8: Rotherham United LLWWWL (down one).

Seeking a third successive league win for the first time since April 2016, the Millers were edged out at Bradford - a happy hunting ground in recent years - at the weekend.

Back on home soil against lowly Oldham at the weekend, where they are chasing a third straight league home win.

9: Barnsley LWDWLL (unchanged).

After being second best at home in Conor Hourihane’s first return to Oakwell with Aston Villa at the weekend, Barnsley took brownie points, if nothing else, in a spirited Carabao Cup exit to Spurs at Wembley.

The league very much remains the priority.

10: Hull City LLWLLD (unchanged).

Prevented a drama lurching into a crisis with a redeeming leveller against Sunderland last weekend.

But Hull still have worries aplenty in a season which is hobbling somewhat at the minute. One win in seven matches in all competitions ahead of a tough-looking trip to Reading.

11: Doncaster Rovers DDLLLL (unchanged).

After a desperately poor derby display against Scunthorpe on Sunday, Rovers at least gave their 5,000 fans something to shout about with a plucky Carabao Cup exit at Arsenal on Wednesday.

But the statistics aren’t great for Rovers and Darren Ferguson. Four losses on the spin in all competitions and no league victories in six.

12; Guiseley LLLDDD (unchanged).

Cruelly denied the first win of the Paul Cox era by a late, late stoppage time leveller for Wrexham last weekend.

Guiseley at least have a building block by way of three straight draws, including two away. Unbeaten under Cox so far.
